| Georgetown County is one of the earliest established counties in South Carolina - and was one of the earliest "Districts" as well. Many later SC Counties were formed from parts of Georgetown County. The earliest "recorded" Lewis family in what is now known as Georgetown County was Peter Lewis, who arrived in the area circa 1799 from Marion County, SC. | |
