| Duplin County was created in 1750 from part of New Hanover County. The earliest "recorded" Lewis family in Duplin County was William Lewis, III - the son of the famous William Lewis, Jr. of Black River, NC (New Hanover County at the time). William Lewis, III arrived in Duplin County circa 1756 and remained for the rest of his natural life. The Author has only recently begun researching Duplin County, so the "other" Lewis family arrivals still need to be sorted out. Please stay tuned. | |||
