| The earliest recorded William Lewis in North Carolina, this William Lewis was born c.1690 in what is present-day Bertie County, NC. In the 1720s, William and his wife Mary moved to Town Creek, an early settlement in New Hanover County (present-day Brunswick County). William died in Brunswick County on 12/11/1731. Soon thereafter, his two sons moved south to what is present-day Horry County, SC, where it seems that William Jr. remained and Solomon moved on to what is present-day Marion County, SC. Nothing more is known about this William Lewis's daughters. | ||||
