Samuel Lewis shows up the US Census for Horry County in 1810 and 1820. He purchases a total of 800 acres of land in Horry County in 1796 and 1797 from two Heartsfield brothers. From 1800 to 1816 he buys land in Marion County, then in 1821 he sells it all, and at that time (1821), it is indicated that this Samuel Lewis is living in Beaufort County, SC. Many of these transactions are witnessed by Josiah Lewis, Hardy Lewis, Zilpha Lewis, Isaac Lewis, and Joel Lewis - all of Horry County.
