The Descendents of Robert
Lewis and Mary Biggerstaffe |
| Robert Lewis and his wife Mary Biggerstaffe (sometimes
spelled Bickerstaffe) arrived in Charles Town (Charleston, SC)
in 1675, both from England by way of Barbados. They had at least
five known children, as shown below, and probably others. Further
research is underway to finalize this lineage of early Lewises
in SC. |

| Dr. Sybil Lewis Allen of LaGrange, GA provided
updates and corrections to this Lewis line in June of 2011. It
is her opinion that the Charles Lewis listed above was the grandson
of Robert Lewis and Mary Biggerstaffe - she claims they had a
3-year old son named Charles Lewis when they arrived in 1675,
and the one above would be Charles, Jr. This author doesn't necessarily
agree but leaves it to the reader to make their own call. |
