| Florence County was established in 1888 with lands acquired from Marion County, Darlington County, Williamsburg County, and Clarendon County. The Author has only recently begun researching the Lewis families in Florence County - and it might be a while before the "earliest" as well as "other" Lewis family arrivals can be sorted out.
