The Descendents of Charles Lewis and Elizabeth Mary Horry
Charles Lewis was a planter in Christ Church Parish, SC. Elected by the parish to the Third Royal Assembly in 1728, he refused to qualify because the "swearing of oaths on the Holy Evangelists was against his conscience," but he was re-elected and qualified on March 21, 1728. He declined to represent the parish in the Fourth Royal Assembly (also in 1728). Below are his children. Some records indicate that there were two Daniels in this family, the first one dying in 1717, but the author has found other evidence to indicate the there was actually only one Daniel, born in 1717 and living until 1773.
